Blooms of Nature a project by Domenico Mangano

My recent artistic research on ceramics will be inspired by the medieval manuscript Der Nature Bloeme (translated as The best that nature offers), the first natural scientific treatise written in a vernacular language in the Netherlands (d. 1270). My experiments will create a sculptural world in which life, nature and matter play a leading role. Furthermore, the ceramics ceramics is equipped with whistles so these are also surreal and archaic musical instruments with which you can make sounds by blowing and beating on the surface. During my residency in Guldagergaard, I am experimenting with working with organic glazes made from ash, mussels, shells and different types of clay collected on the island of Bornholm. Thanks to Wood-fired kilns can produce unique and interesting effects on the ceramic’s surface, such as a range of earthy tones and natural patterns.

Paty Ló (Mexico)

She has a strong interest in making the intangible tangible, in lending a body to everything that does not have it. Emotions, their transmutation, and fantastic stories are the basis of her work. With this she has the objective of creating his own imaginary in which the above becomes real, totally credible, and accepted.

She has participated in exhibitions such as  “The underdogs” (Museo de Arte de Zapopan, México)”Flowers on the wall” (Museo de Arte Raúl Anguiano, México), “Localides” (APTO Galeria, México) she has also being involved in fashion shows like “Alimento” by Julia and Renata Franco and art fairs like “Material Art Fair”.

Pep Boadas i Prats (Spain)

I come from a traditional ceramist family from a little town in the north of Catalonia. My artistic research is based in the exploration with the wheel thrown objects, the processes of recycling functional ware and experimenting with unconventional methodologies.

Nastia Calaca (Ukraine)

I’m an independent ceramic artist from Ukraine, currently living and creating in Haarlem, the Netherlands.
I have created a successful small ceramic brand, selling my works and putting smiles on people’s faces worldwide since 2016.

I consider my sculptures versatile and understandable, playful, sometimes humorous, and somehow narrative.
While I try to avoid using exact images or book illustrations as a base for my artwork, I come to them through my personal interpretations and childhood memories.

Despite the fact that I’m focused mainly on the anthropomorphic subject in my art, I do admire people and they have always been a great inspiration to me.

I have happened to develop a style and chose a theme that people around the globe find appealing.
My own works make me chuckle, so maybe this is the answer.
I’m telling jokes and stories in clay.

Peter Osborn, AU

I live in the central east coastal region of Australia near Brisbane. I have worked for many years as a professional structural engineer but over the past 15 years have studied and practiced as a visual artist in ceramics and drawing media. Currently I am in the last stages of a doctorate program in which I am researching through my ceramic practice how human relationship with nature can be captured and enhanced through the making of fine art. My practice centres around this making of connectivity with nature.

Felipe Tascon, USA

Felipe Tascon is an artist working and living in rural, western, New York. His practice is focused on ceramics, but bleeds into interdisciplinary work that includes wood, metals, and drawing media. He is in the process of completing a BFA at Alfred University.
