Yuta Segawa & Miyu Kurihara

(See English version of exhibition texts below in yellow)

Exhibition text in English

On the Skælskør-shelf, the park’s human-sized version of a traditional Danish Amagerhylde*, selected miniature works by the two Japanese artists Miyu Kurihara and Yuta Segawa are presented.

Yuta Segawa’s miniature ceramics explore the limits of what the human body can create on such a small scale. Each of the miniature pots on display has been individually thrown by hand and glazed with one of more than 3,000 original glazes developed by the artist.

Miyu Kurihara’s works draw on traditional porcelain craftsmanship with roots in China and Japan. The small objects are hand-decorated with intricate detail, inspired by both Japanese pattern design and traditional Asian ceramics.

* According to the Danish Dictionary, an Amagerhylde is a triangular arrangement of small shelves, shortest at the top and gradually longer towards the bottom, traditionally used for displaying decorative objects.
